San Francisco Craftsman Victorian
This San Francisco Craftsman Victorian underwent a full gut renovation. Spearman Spaces stripped the home down to its studs and rebuilt it to support modern life—upgrading all mechanical systems, adding insulation, new windows, and resolving structural issues. The new interior focuses on texture, natural materials, and custom built-ins to maximize storage. The furnishings and finishes were selected to feel warm, classic, and enduring.
DESIGN ELEMENTS
Craftsman–Victorian homes often sit at an intersection of architectural philosophies — Victorian emphasis on ornament, verticality, and decorative detail paired with Craftsman priorities of material honesty, structure, and hand-crafted expression. In interiors shaped by this blend, earthy neutrals help bridge these influences, allowing decorative architecture and grounded material palettes to coexist without visual competition. Layered warm neutrals — mineral creams, clay tones, soft browns, muted greens, and weathered wood hues — create a backdrop that supports both the decorative rhythm of Victorian detailing and the solidity and warmth associated with Craftsman interiors. Furnishings and built-ins typically highlight natural grain woods, matte or hand-finished surfaces, stone with organic movement, and textiles that emphasize weave and texture over pattern.
